New 7 Wonders of the World (2001-2007): Taj Mahal (Agra, India), Great Wall of China (China), Christ the Redeemer (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Chichen Itza (Yucatán, Mexico), Petra (Ma'an Governorate, Jordan), Machu Picchu (Cuzco Region, Peru), Colosseum (Rome, Italy).
New 7 Wonders of the World was an initiative started in 2001 to choose Wonders of the World from a selection of 200 existing monuments. The popularity poll was led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organized by the New7Wonders Foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland,with winners announced on July 7, 2007 in Lisbon. The New 7 Wonders Foundation is regulated by the Swiss Federal Foundation Authority as all nationwide-active foundations in Switzerland are. The New7Wonders Foundation claimed that more than 100 million votes were cast through the Internet or by telephone.
